This vintage pedestal compote was designed for Arthur Salm's iconic Silhouette line, attributed to designer Walter I. Bieger in the mid-1950s–60s. The flared bowl, slender stem, and circular foot create a sleek, space-age profile that works just as well as a candy dish, catchall, or small centerpiece as it once did on a bar cart. Features & Details: - Maker: Arthur Salm, marked AS / DES. PAT. PEND. / USA on base (Silhouette line) - Design: Silhouette martini-shaped pedestal compote (also used as ashtray / trinket dish in period ads) - Material: Nickel-plated metal (bright silver-tone finish) - Color: Polished nickel with darker center well - Style: Mid-century modern, space-age / atomic, c. 1950s–60s - Approx. size: 5.5 in H x 6.5 in diameter; base approx. 3.5 in diameter - Use ideas: candy dish, bar cart compote, entry catchall, trinket bowl, sculptural display on a credenza - Origin: Made in USA Condition notes: Lightly polished and shows normal vintage surface scratches, light marks and patina from age and use; one or more tiny dings/nicks and interior scuffing consistent with similar pieces from this time.
